The Changing role of Music Producer
Jul 14th

Today most people have at least an idea of their function and can reel off a few top names. The role; part Svengali part musical director, has always changed with different eras, media and commercial approaches.

Analog plus Digital
Jul 7th
I have found many Analog v Digital articles, posted by proponents of both sides of this audiophile argument. These tend to go into specifications or technical terms and end with a conclusion that one or other is better on the ear.
I can state my own opinion here: and that is that on a number of important fronts Digital wins out hands down:
- Non linearity
- Ease of use (Recording, Mastering and Distribution)
- Generally Quality is much higher
- Speed of turn around
- Cost (Relatively speaking)
- Storage Space
- Lower Maintenance overheads.
Re-design on the cards.
Apr 26th
Things have been busy for all of us but there is a re-design on the cards. We will try and jig all our sites to reflect the same colour choices . . . most likely purple, black and white.
We will also be archiving and pulling off a few of the current articles – so grab an RSS feed or PDF while you can.
Any suggestions or pointers, gratefully accepted in the comments.

Why Join the Social Media Game ?

Am I wrong so far ?
So what’s wrong with self-promotion ?
Now in one way you could say yeah nothing wrong, indeed it is all above board and within the terms of the game. Certainly a Musicians Network thrives on people posting up their content and exchanging ideas - that’s what we are here for !
But sadly on the larger general Social Media Sites, it is slowly turning more “dog eat dog” as we go on and desperation creeps in – yeah it is really tough out there. Promotion is not always straight forward and is actually a skilled and long term process. Read the rest of this entry »
